How to Import 29.97 footage in 59.94 project

    Hello Everyone!

I've never tried to do this but I'm having some troubles. I have some 29.97 frame rate footage I'm trying to import into a 59.94 project and I'm having no luck being able to import the media. I thought someone may be able to offer some know how and assistance in this area.

    Thanks in advance!

    - Jared

    More details please.

Are these file based clips? If so, what format? Codec? Camera shot on?

What version of MC are you running?

    Thanks for the offered help!

The clips are tape based and filmed with a Canon XH A1. I trimmed all the clips in premiere and expoted it as one clip encoding it as a QuickTime and using Avid DNX HD Codec. I tried originally importing the clips into Avid but had no luck so I then rough cut everything down so it was only a few minutes long and just one clip. I'm running Media Composer version 5.0 with whatever the latest update version was to 5.0

    Thanks.

    Jared:

What you need to do is create a 29.97 project, import (or capture) your 29.97 media into that project, then go to your 59.94 project and use the "open bins" command to access the 29.97 material inside that project. As you cut it into the timeline, the system will automatically apply a timewarp algorithm to integrate it into the 59.94 sequence.

Was your original footage shot as interlaced or progressive -- I am trying to accomplish similar in going from 29.97p to blu ray

The 29.97 footage is interlaced, the 59.94 media is progressive. I used what Larry mentioned above and that worked great for me...

Re: How to Import 29.97 footage in 59.94 project

For my own edification, to help undestand this, when you transcode from 29.97 interlaced to 59.94p is this eliminating upper-lower feilds to creat two frames from one?
