Good day. I have been working on a large project with numerous long-form sequences with hundreds of edits and graphics. I have been doing these shows on AVID for years and normally I have very few problems.

I realized recently though that the Memory seems to jump way up pretty early in the editing day, and then I start getting error messages, things wont load, renders wont happen... just a lot of little things.

I am just curiouos what I can do to avoid this or make the system more stable. I read some time ago how you can tell the computer to allocate more than the 2G RAM to MC... but I dont remember all the nitty gritty.

    My specs are below.... thanks!

    Re: Memory

What OS are you using?  Win XP is known for not managing memory very well.  Also, you may find this intersting if you have so many edits in your timeline/project....

    Re: Memory

If your on a 32 bit system (didn't notice which OS you're running) there's a utility that you'll find in the utility folder (where else) called 3GB. Once you've run it you'll have an option on boot up to select an AVID preset dedicating more ram to the ap. Not a lot more, but hey, every little bit helps. If you're using a lot of AVX effects (like BCC), having those timelines open, or even the bins with those timelines open increases memory usage. You can try the "clear bin memory" button under the info tab in the project window.

If you're on a 64 bit system, MC can already access all the ram it can.

    Re: Memory

I already use 3GB utility but I still have problem with memory as described here

    Memory usage increased incredibly.
