    Multicam edits

I can't see how MC handles a multicam edit - I have 4 synced camcorders to produce an edit from: in Liquid we could handle up to 9 or 16 synchronised camcorders (who needed that many?!).  How does one do multicam in MC?  (So one sees output from all camcorders on screen at the same time, and as all are playing back, use cam selection keys to send the appropriate video to the timelines.)

Stacking them all on the timeline, in sync, isn't a great deal of help since one can only view 'top down' rather than select the required tracks for viewing.

    Re: Multicam edits

A little RTFM would go a long way here Mike - multi-cam editing is very simple in MC. You need to learn how to group clips and then edit with them as a single source with the ability to switch between cameras on a quad or 9 way split in your source monitor.

I believe Dougls has some basic tutorials which will help you understand how to get going.

    Re: Multicam edits

Thanks.  That should get me mobile.

I did search the Manual (RTFM) - I found nothing in the index regarding Multicam.  Again, a question of different terminology between editing systems no doubt.  I didn't doubt that it was possible with MC - but it didn't immediately jump out and bite me in the nose (as my wife points out - unless it does that I don't see it...)

Thanks too, Douglas - yes, I do have that tutorial package.  Now to watch it ...

    Re: Multicam edits

Well, just learned something else as well ... I saw I had the 'Media Composer Editing Guide pdf on my hard drive - but assumed (incorrectly I now discover) that was the pdf version of the hard copy manual that comes with MC.  Not so - in that pdf there is indeed information regarding multicam edits.  I had the Marque Guide pdf printed out (I like to read this stuff 'off-line, away from the computer), but it looks like I need to use the 'Editing' pdf as well as the hard copy 'Basic Guide' ... and of course, Douglas's tutes.   I have several of them - but not watched them all yet ...

Douglas - your tutorial says all I need to know for now!  Brilliant. Thanks!  (Even easier than I imagined it would be as well ... with lots of ways to sync the clips, can hardly go wrong!)

That was very nice of you, Mike.
    Sorry but I am a bit hard up just now . . . . . . . Geeked . . . otherwise . . . . . .

I guess I'll have to get on with a follow up . . . . .to be finished before you have reached the end of your "all I need to know for now" stage.

    Big Smile

I will be getting more - don't warry Douglas!  At the moment, with so much on my plate, I'm looking at the tutorials on a 'need to know' basis.
