Re: Error -5000 while verifying your authorisation

    fendstrad from avid:

    1.  Create a folder on your desktop, you can call it "AIR Plugins"...doesn't really matter

    2.  Go to Mac\Application Support\Digidesign\Plug-Ins and drag out the first 20 plugin files that begin with "AIR" and move to the Air Plugins on the desktop so that they are no longer in this folder.

    3.  Relaunch and you should no longer receive the -5000 error

    good luck

Re: Error -5000 while verifying your authorisation

I'm upgrading from 5 to 5.5.1 and I get this error, but when I look in Library>Application Support there is no Digidesign folder to delete files from - any ideas?

There are Library folders for the System at the root level as well as a Library folder for each user.  Make sure you're looking in the correct Library folder.  (BTW, if you want to go crazy, try to count how many Font folders there are on your boot disk.)

Re: Error -5000 while verifying your authorisation

I'm having this problem too when I try launching 5.5.2 for the first time.  I don't have a Digidesign folder on my system (I looked in the Application support folder and did a system search for "digidesign."  I also searched for Air plugins -- no luck.  Any thoughts?????

    Thanks,

    MikeO

    MikeO

Spec's would really help us here - flying blind without knowing what Mac, OS etc you have.

The 5000 error on 10.6.7 and below and 5.5.2 and below was caused by incompatible plug ins.

On your Mac - go to Maintosh HD then open Library\Application Support\Digidesign\Plug-Ins and get rid of the first 20 plugin files that begin with "AIR".     Either move them to a folder on the desktop or delete them just as long as they are no longer in this folder.   Make sure you dont have any hidden files and folders.

    2.  Relaunch and you should no longer receive the -5000 error.

Otherwise give us a little bit more info.... did it just happen or did you jsut update?  System Specs should be added to your profile - go to your name in the right hand corner of community and click on it- then edit profile.

Re: Error -5000 while verifying your authorisation

I'm on 10.6.6 and just upgraded to 5.5.2.  Haven't been able to get it to launch successfully.  Always get the -5000 error.

As I said before, I do not have the Digidesign folder nor do I have any AIR plug ins.  I've looked in the appropriate folder location and done a system search to double check.  I've reinstalled Avid, still nothing.  I'm mulling upgrading to 10.6.7 if I can find it somewhere.

Re: Error -5000 while verifying your authorisation

Is this the first time you've tried to use MC?  Or did you upgrade and now it doesn't work?

That being said, as long as you're dealing with this, I would strongly suggest you uninstall 5.5.2, download the OS 10.6.8 v1.1 Combo update from Apple, install, then download 5.5.3 and install that.  Many bug fixes in the latest software.

Re: Error -5000 while verifying your authorisation

No, I've been on Avid for 8+ years.  I upgraded because the version I was in wasn't importing P2 media correctly.

There's another system in house that's been buggy with 10.6.8, so I'm holding off on that for the moment.  I just upgraded to 10.6.7 and that didn't solve the problem, so I'm trying a reinstall of Avid 5.5.2 again.
