"Bus error" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0

    Hi there,

I know I am not the only one with the "Bus error" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0....

But I couldn't find any real help so far in any of the other threads.

My System: AvidMC 5.0.3.6 with MatroxMini on an OS 10.6.4 (2x2.66GHz QuadCore Intel Xeon with 12 Gb RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GT120)

I am working on a 1080p/25 Project. We shot with the Sony EX3 in XDCamEX 35.

First I linked our footage via AMA and I had a lot of problems. Now I transcodes everything into the AvidMediaFiles Folders (same Codec) but I didn't make the trick.

I am working a lot with multiclips. My Data is stored on an external drive (Lacie Cube) connected via ESata (Lacie PCI Adapter).

I trashed McState, SiteSettings etc. Made a clean re-install etc...Nothing helped...

And the "Bus error" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0 is not the only Error. I get the "Segmentation fault"  in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0, an the OUT OF MEMORY, too. And quite often the: exception: std::exception, waht:std::bad_alloc

On top my Avid crashes everytime I shut it down ( at the end of the shutting down process)

I is really bad. As my MediaComposer crashes every 30 min at least.

Has anyone a hint or the same Problems, a workaround? Anything?

    Thanks a lot!

    David

Re: "Bus error" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0

Ok , always good to use a version that is known to work before starting doing trouble shooting, you also mentioned a lot of other probs in your first post as for example shutdown errors.

Is the bus error the only error you are seeing now after installing 5.0.3.5.

Was it a clean install using Avids uninstaller first.

    It was a clean install.

And the Bus error came back, as did the shutdown error.

I am still waiting for the segmentation fault and the "exception: std::exception, waht:std::bad_alloc" error to come, but a funny feeling tells me, they will soon show up too...[:'(]

Are your projects stored on your external drive ?

What errors do you get when closing down ?

And soon after that I get the "exception: std:exception, what: "Bus error" in thread "SprngBuf Fill thread #4" at address 0x0"

I can close that error message but seconds afterwards the good old: exception: std::exception, waht:std::bad_alloc pops up...

Your media should be stored on an external drive, your project files ( = bins ) should not, what happens if you create a new project storing it on your bootdrive ?

And if you unplug that external drive and remove the esata card, testing a small testproject directly stored on your bootdisc , what happens ?

By the way: I just got the:    exception: std::exception, waht:std::bad_alloc - error

followed by the OUT OF MEMORY message. (at 80%)  Then I usually quit the application which results in the  "Bus error" in thread "Main thread", at address 0x0 Error. (avid finally crashes with this)

So it wasn't the 5.0.3.6. patch...

That is of minor importance, never troubleshot using a version that is withdrawn by Avid.

So, how about that internal drive test ?
