    iMovie and .mov QuickTime 10

A friend has a 3 year old Mac, uses iMovie, and I have made a .mov-file for him to use (from Avid MC).

He can't play it, not on his Quick-time-player nor import it into iMovie. It plays fine on my QT-player version 10.

How can I convert it into a usable file for him? Or can he update his programs? Or what ...?

If you exported it as "Same as Source" then your friend has to have the Avid codecs installed on their system.  They are available for download from the knowledge base.  See the FAQ thread at the top for the link.

If it's some other codec, that may not be compatible with their version of Quicktime.  Pick something that is an option for both and it should be able to seen on the other system.
