    MC5 and Windows 7?

    Greetings

I will be purchasing MC5 for an upcoming professional job on my home system. I am currently running MC3 on Vista Business 64 with no issues. Are there any warnings about upgrading to Windows 7 because I think now would be a good time to make the change.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hey Patrick,

I have W7 Pro and MC5.  It works well, but there are issues.  The OS works fine with Avid.  MC5 version is where the problems are at.  I still like MC5, but I don't love it yet.  I have faith that Avid will work out the problems though soon enough.  I suggest looking through these forums to know the advantages and disadvantages ahead of time, so you don't have any surprises.

After overcoming the general terribleness of win7 compared to xp, then struggling for weeks with MC5, I now wish I would have bought neither of both. Sorry if that sounds harsh but currently I am in the middle of a marathon of terror.

A more constructive answer of mine should have been, coming from vista, it will probly be an improvement going to 7, maybe not. For MC5, I still wish I had sticked to MC4. For me, AMA is instable, Smart tool is a pain, and while some other features are  quite cool I is slowing me WAY down. Sorry, still not so constructive...

    Thomas:

Regarding Windows 7, be advised that MC 5 is specifically qualified to run on Windows 7 Professional 64. Is that the flavor you are using?

Yes, it is not that MC5 on win7 is not working, it is more that win7 drives me nuts (explorer, start menu, search and much more) and the rest of my sanity is used up by MC5 (smart tool, cut/paste, ama trouble). I really wish I could have the peace and ease of XP & MC4 back. Sorry for the negativity...
