    Symphony AMA question

A customer is running Symphony (not sure the exact version) on Win 7 64 bit.

BCC didn't load in symphony and we tracked down an interesting culprit.

If the customer enters the registry and navigates to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Wow6432Node> Avid Technology>AVX Plug-ins  we notice the value entered for the AVX2Directory is %Program Files(x86)%\Avid AVX2_Plug-ins

If we change the value to C:\Program Files(x86)\Avid\AVX2_Plug-Ins then bcc works perfectly fine but AMA clips do not load and he gets the following error:  There are no AMA media stream plugins (MSPs) that are eligible for AMA link to file(s).

Does anyone have any insight on this? It would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Symphony AMA question

For anyone who may have been following this or cares the customer is all set.

They uninstalled BCC and Symphony.  Deleted the Avid registry entries.  Reinstalled both apps and all is working well now.

This time the AVX2 key value was the exact path it did not have to be changed manually (C:\Program Files(x86)\Avid\AVX2_Plug-Ins)

    Re: Symphony AMA question

I don't know if this is related but I just installed BCC6 AVX on a Mac Symphony 5 (upgraded from Symphony 3.5) and I get this warning when I add a BCC effect. Any suggestions? In the effects pallet I can see the new 3D objects filters but nothing that labeled BCC6. Most effects still have the BCC5 prefix.

    This isn't related but ....

Have you reinstalled BCC as it asks?

    Re: Symphony AMA question

Sounds good.  I would do an uninstall/reinstall of BCC then report back if you are having the same issue or not.

    Re: Symphony AMA question

After uninstall and reinstall The same message is coming up in 5.0.1. Other than the warning all the effects seems to work just fine so maybe there isn't a problem. Attached is what my effects pallet looks like.

    Thanks, Derrick

    Re: Symphony AMA question

Is this with existing effects of when you apply new ones?

If it;s new ones which are you applying.  It looks like you have AVX 1.5 versions of BCC 4 and 5 installed.  You can remove BCC 5 which might be your issue.  If you remove BCC 5 all BCC 5 effects will promote to BCC 6.  It looks like you are missing some BCC 6 categories as well though.

Those are the ones with no number listed.

This was applying a new effect.

Whats the best way to uninstall BCC5? I believe that was a download (no cd) for me.

    Re: Symphony AMA question

Manually remove them from the AVX 1.5 and AVX 2 folders.

    Re: Symphony AMA question

I just upgraded to BCC 6 and I'm on a MBP.  I seem to recall there was an uninstall either as a seperate app or part of the BCC 6 install.  Can't remember which it was over a week ago.

    John,

Yes on the Mac there is a seperate uninstaller located in Mac HD> Applications> Boris Continuum AVX 6> Uninstaller

This will only uninstall BCC 6 though and not older versions.
