Re: unable to allocate enough memory for this operation error was this ever fixed????

    Hi!

I got the same errormessage since I have updated from Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.1.7 to 5.2
Never got this error in previous versions.
While I am editing the memory in the projectwindow goes up to 11,12 or 13% - then on an action like videomixdown or only by working in the timeline I got this errormessage.Restart of the application helps.

    My System:

    2Gb DDR2 RAM
    Nvidia PCIx PCX5750 Card

Thanks a bunch for all your input. We now officially have this logged as a bug and will hopefully have a fix coming soon. I will keep everyone up to date.

Yes [Y] Re: unable to allocate enough memory for this operation error was this ever fixed????

I've got all these problems  then I thought one and disconnected my HFS+ formatted portable drive (though  there is no OMFI folder on it, it's only for moving files between my machines), so MacDrive was gone too - and suddenly AXPHD works just fine (currently 5.1.7 'cause I reverted to this).

I believe I'm running Mac Opener, too. Perhaps that has something to do with it? I don't have any Mac formatted drives attached, but the software is resident (I think).

Angry [:@] Re: unable to allocate enough memory for this operation error was this ever fixed????

I am sooo frickin frustrated with this!   These errors cost me probably a total of 2 to 3 hours a day!  Frickin RUNTIME error and frickin ALLOCATION errors and CANT_GET_DECOMP_BUFFER errors and on and on and on.  And I am working on a beefed up system.....dual processor XEONs 3.2 with 4 gb or RAM!    Avid should be ashamed of 5.2!  Really!  We are editors....NOT BETA TESTERS!!!    Angry [:@]

Is there a fix for this on the horizon?  First it happened to me every few days, then it was every few hours, now sometimes it happens after running for 15 minutes, even after a fresh reboot.  It is incredibly frustrating.  I've tried an uninstall and reinstall, no change.

Hey Ham, after dealing with this for several weeks (and getting VERY MAD) I downgraded to version 5.1.6 and it is smooth as silk!   That is my best advice.  Do that and you will save yourself a lot of aggravation!

    Cheers! Big Smile [:D]

Great... except I upgraded to 5.2 on the advice of Avid tech support to fix another problem, the constant access violation errors I was getting.

Re: unable to allocate enough memory for this operation error was this ever fixed????

I was getting those too.  And now in 5.1.6 it still happens but only once in a while.  Not enough to get in another big rage over! Big Smile [:D]  I also went into the permissions and granted ALL permissions to ALL users in ALL drives.  I think that helped too.

Re: unable to allocate enough memory for this operation error was this ever fixed????

I had to go to v5.1.5 to get past these access violation errors. I was getting them fairly regularly in 5.1.6 and in 5.1.7. I don't get them at all in 5.1.5.

Help Avid. Things are getting worse, before they get better.

Re: unable to allocate enough memory for this operation error was this ever fixed????

Yep. Sucks. The problem for some of us is we can't roll back because we've committed to HDV. Can't do HDV with anything before 5.2 - not without some serious import-decode-transcode BS. Kinda defeats the purpose. So we'll just stick it out a while, closing, re-launching etc., and if the Tewksbury Gods do not see fit to smile upon us thereby, we'll have to bite the bullet and move on to another NLE. After (in my case) 12 years of Avid. A lot of money to retool - but some of us stand to lose a lot more if we lose our clients because we were "unable to allocate enough memory..." and did not meet their deadlines.

If you don't specifically have to use HDV, I'd recommend rolling back to v5.1.5, it was the last truly trouble-free version I used (except for the FluidBlur render bug).
