I have never seen anything quite like this.

Me neither.  I hock my house and put my family in financial jeopardy to buy Avid's flagship product just for them to treat me like this?

Come ON Avid!  A response PLEASE!

    Re: Avid promotes competitors?

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, let me step into this discussion. The 3D workflow document was intended to present a step by step guide of stereoscopy post production, specifically presenting the most common path of this very specialize type of work; taking a project from dailies to editorial to finishing and mastering. At the time we determined that 3D finishing required specific tools like dual stream output in 2k, 3D convergence and titling in the 3D space, which is the reason, the document was extended to include third parties.

The workflow documents highlight the capabilities of Media Composer as a key element to track metadata for downstream 3D process for the most common 3D finishing systems. That said since the first publication 3D has evolved so much that many customers have figure out ways to utilize the advance tools in Avid DS for 3D stereo finishing. Therefore one of my top priorities is to update this document with the current capabilities of DS, more to come soon. In the mean time if you have any questions here is my contact info: Vincent.maza@avid.com.

Might be a good idea to take that paper down for starters as you all craft a new document.

Bad information just serves to shoot credibality in the foot, and every day it stays up there  Avid pull's the trigger again and again.. soon there will be no feet left to hold up the somewhat tattered credibality.

Remember the punk band D.O.A.? (one of my faves) - they had a moto; "Talk minus Action equals Zero."

A bit like pulling teeth to get there but yes, it's an answer.

    Finally.

This time I hope the new document is put out for approval prior to being posted.

Thanks for the offer Vincent, but I doubt that I'll be able to offer anything worthwhile.  There are far more knowledgeable folk than me on the subject of DI work.  My work is 95% Broadcast.
