Symphony 5 and HD Closed Captioning

Does anyone know if the new version 5 can now import closed caption files and output HD 708 captions to HDCAM tape? I tried to do this last year and Avid was not able to do this. We had to rent a hardware cc encoder. Have there been any new developments on this? Thanks for any info.

There is a new Data Track in SN/MC 5 which will allow the import of a SMPTE 334M file. CCaption and Softel have already announced support for this.

Thank you Bob. Sounds like good news. I will forward this to our captioning company and see if it makes sense to them.

That is correct. Its my understanding the Nitris Classic hardware was designed before HD Closed Caption was a standard. Due to a hardware limitation this isn't supported with the Nitris Classic.

Our caption house uses the CC Caption software. I can't wait to try this out when released and see how well it works.
