FXDeko Training Manual - Tutorial Files

I have a copy of the Pinnacle Systems FX Deko Training Course Manual. It refers to files in a the directory c:\Deko\Tutorial - but the systems that I have access to, don't have this directory. Does anyone know where I can get the files in that directory?

Re: FXDeko Training Manual - Tutorial Files

If you have the training manual then the files would have been installed at the time of training.  Though the book says C:\ they are generally loaded on the D:\ drive (PostDeko systems will have them on C:\).  Disks were provided with the training manuals at that time as well.

If they are not there then someone at your facility must have deleted them.  Hopefully they will be on your backup disks.

If you can't find them it is doubtful that the files can be provided now since the FXDeko training program has been superceded by the Deko3000 training for many years and the files referenced are completely different.

For everyone else out there - backup your Deko files before and after any major graphics changes so that you will have all your materials, including those from training, in the future.

Thanks for your response, Mary. Unfortunately, none of the engineers in the building know anything about those files, so I'm stuck. I wonder if any users on this forum might have the files I'm looking for?

    Thanks,

    Ros.

Re: FXDeko Training Manual - Tutorial Files

I have a CD here with some older FXDeko training materials which I believe may be what you are after.

There are 2x self-extracting ZIP files full of a variety of training related materials - one ZIP for NTSC and one for PAL.

They are each around 80Mb in size so I can't email them & the file is too large for me to upload from work - I tried to place it on drop.io for you but the upload keeps timing out.

Is there any chance you have the FXDeko Program Installation CD?  We are a Public Access Television Station (Non-Profit 501C3) that was given a two channel FXDeko with Digital Output Boards.  Unfortunately, the TV Station that donated it was not able to locate the Program disk.  The hard drive is failing and I am in desperate need to replace it and reinstall my software.  Any chance you could help out or know where I can get the CD?  Avid is no longer supporting the FXDeko.  Thanks for any information you might have.

Re: FXDeko Training Manual - Tutorial Files

Brett, do you have an older FXDeko training manual or a newer version.  If the cover sheet of your training manual says just

    DEKO

    Training Manual

    Revision A

Then you have the old FXD training materials, and your book references material mainly in D:/Tutorial.

    If your cover sheet says:

    DEKO BASIC TRAINING COURSE

    Classroom Manual

    Revision C

Then you have the more recent manual, which references D:/Deko/Basics.

If someone does have the disks and is willing to provide them, be sure they are the disks that match your training manual.

I may have a copy from my training days somewhere, but since this is a service that Avid provides for a fee I could not give you a copy even if I found them.  Sorry.  I do not know if Avid sells the disks separately from a class.  If you want me to check please email me directly.

    Thank you,
