    UNITY files disappear

I created two workspaces in the Avid Unity. I'll just refer to those workspaces as A and B. I created A first as my primary workspace with 1.3TB space. All my Avid projects and Media files were there. Then when I reached using around 70% of A's space, I created B and allocated 700GB to it. These are both unprotected workspaces. Then I started using B as my media drive and left A as it is at 70%. One morning when I opened the project, all my media files on B were offline already. I tried to relink but no clips were found. Good thing that most of my footage were MXF files from SonyEX that I can easily batch import most of the offline files. But with the ones I acquired from tape, it would really be a hassle to put them online again. And I had to render the whole thing again. Why does this happen and how can we prevent this from happening? B still had something inside the Avidmediafiles folder, but I couldn't relink them and Avid would just end up crashing while relinking. If you need any more information about the incident, let me know and as much as possible give you specific details.

I'm just wondering..was the size of workspace B free up? it's weird.

Yes it was. Actually it was only around 60% full when this happened. It is really weird. And as much as I want to ignore it because I was able to batch import the files, I'm still afraid that it might happen again to other projects that require digitizing.

I can also see in the bin that the offline files were from that same drive. Actually it's the 2nd time that this happened to us. The first time was when our Unity was new, but then I ignored the issue thinking that we configured the network wrongly. But now that everything is working fine(almost), this happens again.

    Re: UNITY files disappear

have you rebuilt media databases from the Systems that created them?   If this question makes no sense, then you need to get a Unity qualified service rep in.

Yes, I did rebuild them. Some of the MXF files were found, some of them remained offline.

you may need to trash all database files and then rescan them from each computer connected to Unity.
