    Re: Keyspan not working

I happen to have both a 19HS and USA-28X Keyspan and went through a thorough series of tests with both because I was told that AVID is now recommending only using the 19HS.

I had been using the 28X with absolutely no problems but decided to see if I could transition over. I downloaded the latest drivers from the Keyspan site, uninstalled what I had on my computer, and then installed the newest driver---making sure the Keyspan 19HS was disconnected. I reconnected it---it didn't work. Went through a whole bunch of tests--still didn't work.

Re-hooked up the 28X, kept the latest driver software in the MAC, made sure the deck configuration specifically referenced the serial port I was using in the Keyspan (NOT Key Serial 1), and everything works perfectly. At this point, I am sticking with the USA-28X until it dies.

FYI--the AVID support person sent me a diagram of the Keyspan 19HS that I was supposed to have hooked to my MAC---guess what? the Keyspan shown in the diagram is a USA-28X---not at 19HS.

28x is obsolete. You might be able to get it to work with enough time spent but it is also not frame accurate. Avid is recommending 19HS from now on.

    Re: Keyspan not working

I know that's what AVID has said. However, your profile shows you are running a PC---I am running MC on a MAC Intel.....that could be it. I will try again tonight, although I called Keyspan (Tripplite) today and they said the 19HS is not checked out for MAC OS 10.5.6

That could be it as well

I have the same problem. IThe 19HS outputs RS 232 signals, which I routes through a 232-to-422 converter, iMac sees it but considers it to be a modem that cannot be changed in the networks control panel.

The LEDs on the 232 - 422 converter does not light up.

    Re: Keyspan not working

My Mac Pro sees it as a modem, too (under network control panel), but it has been working fine in MC, so I don't think that is the problem.  Does Keyspan Serial Assistant report any errors?  It should be installed in your applications folder.  Maybe the 232-432 converter is bad or installed backwards?

    Re: Keyspan not working

I just found out the Keyspan 28x is not supported anymore. I've been using the 28x for years and haven't had any problems with it. I read that the timecode might not be accurate so I want to switch to the now supported 19HS.

I uninstalled my old keyspan driver. Then downloaded the new v2.5 driver for the 19HS from Keyspan website and installed. I can get deck control to work for a while but after I shutdown and startup computer again it seems to lose it's control?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times now but I can't seem to get it to stick. What am I doing wrong? I'm using OS 10.5.6

    Re: Keyspan not working

Solved. Everything seems to be working now after uninstalling and reinstalling 2.5 again and deleting from the network panel.

Hmm, what version of MC are you using?
