What method would get me the best .mov file to write to DVD using iDVD? Right now I am exporting same as source using the 4:3 dimension and RGB color. Aside from not being completely satsifed with the image quality the dimension does not match the Avid preview, it is slightly wider. I've tried both native dimensions and 16:9 but they are no better. Might interlacing be a concern?
Thanks,
fez

You may need to jump up to a better DVD program as iDVD is quite limited.

Hi fez,
it's important to know what is the resolution of your original footage. sometimes it's tricky when your footage is 720x486 and your quicktime needs to be 720x480. also, the quality of the quicktime mainly depends on what codec you're using to export said quicktime file.
Make a short test sequence in Avid, then try some export choices. I'd select 'Crop' when QT asks you how to maintain aspect ratio upon export. see what happens. alter settings. rinse. repeat.

Hey Fez,
I've noticed that in the IDVD preview the top and bottom have slight black bars, but when the disk is actually burned it goes away and you've got full screen. Have you tried going all the way through the process, or did you stop at the preview in IDVD?
