avid media conversion and adrenaline question.

    hi there,

say I am on a new media composer (adrenaline) and I also have xpress pro.  can I copy the media from an avid drive to a standard firewire drive and use that media in xpress?

is there a way to convert the media so you can use it on avid xpress?

I am 99.9% sure the answer is no, please help me with that .1% -- someone is asking me and I just want to make sure I am 100% correct.

I am actually not that familiar with adrenaline.  what type of codec does it use and how does it differ from the meridian codec.  also, while I am here I may aswell ask this: does adrenaline give you the render free effects options that xpress does?  our media composer 11.2.6 is killing us on OS9 and I just want to find out if our soon to happen upgrade will help us there.

    :-)

    thanks!
    -Rob

Im not sure but what is your final output?

Doesnt OMF transfer across both ways?

We use MXF mostly now but there are times when OMF is needed.

btw we use Adrenaline MC 2.6 on OS X 10.4.7

If its DV resolution no problem. If its 1 to 1 and you have Mojo with Pro versions before V5 no problem. With version 5.5 you may not need Mojo for 1 to 1 (havent gone there myself)

On 4.6 Pro I just get a prompt that 1 to 1 needed to be transcoded. I select the media that needs transcoding and let Avid get on with it.  Really quite fast and simple.

Yes you can. Also 15:s and 1:1 will playback on 'Pro. For 1:1 you will need a raided drive of some type. We use the G-Raid FW drives and they work very well.
