adobe Media encoder (ME) for 4k presets - for MC

i'm still using sorenson for 1080 hd and that works great

i export a REF file, like i use to do and use sorenson - gets me a mpg file  , which plays on my tv, np.

but wanted to use adobe media encoder (cloud) instead 4k setting ,

    "same as project"  -> mp4,

    and many other presets (tried)

the 4k encoding crashes , but it appears to start to work, but. and gives me a file

procedurally i'm doing something wrong.   the file should be able to be played... on the pc, right?   NOPE

in AVID i use export file (etc) do a video mixdown, etc.

error shown by Adobe ME below.

settings in ME:   4kUHD and High Quality 2160p 4k (tried both) with no success, presets with no mods

    Help required.

what export setting should i use in avid?

    audio encode works in ME..

Adobe Media Encoder does not support the use of a QT Ref file as a source.  You need to make some hard file.

You have been helpful to me before, thank you in advance

all i want to do is export a 4k format from MC2020.x

then use Media Encoder to keep the 4k format , etc.

i don't see a 4k export file (in MC)  - seems obvious, but i just don't get it.

please explain , thanks in advance.    if i need a plug-in, np.

Look AMA file export.  Choose MXF Op1a and a reasonable data rate DNx HR codec.  That should do it.

This is from memory - no software to check.  I do this all the time.

Re: adobe Media encoder (ME) for 4k presets - for MC

Ok, sitting (virtually) in front of an Avid  2018.12.9 MC.  I have a UHD 23.976 project open.

In my sequence bin I have the sequence I want output select and I right click / Output / Export to File / Export as / MXF OP1a / Video Compression (you can choose what you want) DNxHR HQ / Audio (as needed)

You could also choose Avid Media Processor where I noted MXF OP1a above.  This will give you a different set of codec options.

Either will give you a file with Audio and Video.  The OP 1a files are definitely read by Media Encoder.

Glad it helped.  As for "imported pics" it always is garbage in - garbage out.  Best to start with the highest quality still (I assume you are talking stills???) of at least the raster size as you final comp.
