    Bin Containers - Mc 2019.6

Can you please allow a "Main" bin container to stay on screen.  When you have one bin open, and close it, the whole container goes away with the list of folders and bins.  You are creating additional steps to open new bins since the "projest" (list of bins) goes away.

    Hi John,

This was a common topic during Beta. Many customers did not like that behavior, leaving a (possibly) blank window when all other Bins were closed. We're having conversations internally about how to improve this behavior.

    Stay tuned.

    Thanks

I would add to this that I've opted to float all bins opened from the bin container (formerly the Project Window) and in every bin window floated there's a also a tab for the bin container, showing me the entire project. It's totally unnecessary. Just bring back the Project Window and allow the usual bin windows floating around.

Right click in the bin -> select "hide sidebar".

Apparently there is no hardwired shortcut. At least I didn't see one yet. But you could map it to the keyboard.

Edit: Just saw you opened a separate thread for this and that you do know the command. Never mind. :)

There are actually settings for this, in preferences/settings/bin settings which allow you to have bin open floating or as a tab into the current bin.  The only thing I would change is to hide the "project" part of the bin container by default when it opens as a new bin container.

I agree. I miss having the Project Window as a permanent central hub for core project management and settings. I'm confident it would fit in with the new tabbed interface without much fuss.

Please bring it back, Avid. The Project Window was part of what made the Media Composer experience elegant.

Totally agree. Despite any marketing claims otherwise it was faster, more obvious and therefore more intuitive than this current state.

I still don't know whether I don't like or don't care about the disposal of the project window. ;) But... for now... you could make kind of your own project window by opening a new (and empty) bin container, right click on the sidebar and select "Show Sidebar Only".
