MC 8.4.4
I have a lot of 4K material that needs to be stabilized and will be used in a 1080p project. Final Output is in 1080p, but into some of the 4k material must be zoomed in, probably after it has been stabilized.
What is the most effective workflow?
What stabilizing tool will you be using?

Are you looking to crop the stabilized image to fit the HD frame? If so, the set the project type to 4K, and stabilize the image using crop, not resize. This gets you black bars around the stabilized image. Render the sequence and do a video mixdown.
Change the project type from 4K to HD. Right-click on the mixdown video, and choose Source Settings. Change the FrameFlex Reformat to Center Keep Size. The mixdown clip is now HD cropped to the center of the frame.
Of course you may have to reposition the frameflex frame where you want it, and if you didn't shoot with the intent of cropping to size then you'll have to scale in the frameflex.
