    Media Composer playback performances...

Hi, I've something to ask you,

When I make a playback of my Timeline, when I want to move the headline or when I'm triming clips (in 1080p) the software is not really reactive like before (even if I made a "Clean Bin Memory")... obviously, my hardware hasn't changed so far.

So is it possible to improuve Media Composer performances if yes, how ?

    Some infos of my config:

    MacBook Pro 15" Late 2016

i7 2,6GHz – 16GB of RAM – AMD Radeon 450 (don't laugh please Smile ) – 256GB of internal SSD but not used for editing obvuously – 512GB of external SSD (Crucial M2 SSD connnected in USB type-C gen. 2)

    macOS Mojave 10.14.2 (latest actually)

    Components average usage:

Project: 1080p @24fps – Rec.709 all clips were transcoded in Apple ProRes 422 MOV and come from a Sony a6300

(All values were taken in playback and editing)

CPU: 5% – GPU: 85% – RAM: 77% represents 9.10GB on 16GB (it seems to much in my opinion) – Internal SSD: 68% – External SSD: 16% (yes only 16...) – Temperatures: CPU: ≈55°C – GPU: ≈41°C – SSDs: ≈35°C (pretty slow compared to Premiere Pro Wink )

    Thanks for your advences... :)

MOV? Are they AMA'd? Or did you mean Avid MXF native files?

convert them to Avid native MXF file via consolidate. Performance should significantly increase.
