    Waveforms at source

It would be GREAT help if we could see waveforms at source monitor and the audio editing whould be a lot easier.

Instead of splicing an audio fx/track at timeline to see the waveform.

I think this is easy for Avid.

    Please do so. Big Smile

Just checking: you do know you have source side waveforms if you toggle the timeline to the source monitor?

    Thank you Job yes.

But again I have to splice it to timeline for that.

I want to be able to mark in out before add a FX/Audio at the timeline.

For example I know where the beat is to an FX but I have to add it to timeline and then do the rest.

It would be such easier and faster to mark it at the source and just splice it at the exact point I want.

    Re: Waveforms at source

I still am confused.  I load a source clip into the source window.  I switch the viewer from Record timeline to Source timeline (icon lower left of the time line screen).  I see my audio waveforms (assuming they are enabled).  I mark in and out based on the waveforms.  I insert into my sequence.

This seems to be exactly what you are looking for - other than adding FX on the source side.

No you don't. Click the icon that says "Toggle Source/Record in Timeline" to the lower left of the timeline. It will now show you the timeline of whatever is in your SOURCE monitor. Turn on Waveforms.

Here's what that icon looks like (marked by a red square): https://i1.creativecow.net/u/241585/screenshot2013-10-09at11.21.35.png

I just say that it would be faster and more convinient to have waveforms on source monitor

by just double clicking on an audio clip inside a bin.

    Re: Waveforms at source

For what it's worth, I made "Toggle Source/Record" easily accessible from my '4' key because it's such an integral part of my workflow. In fact, being able to see the source waveforms with such flexible (I also zoom in and out using the keyboard) and large real estate is probably my favourite feature in Media Composer and what makes it a better experience for me than any other NLE. I can't imagine working without it.

    Re: Waveforms at source

Agreed.  ESC key on my keyboard.  The lack of the this feature is something that really annoys me about Premiere.

"What - you want to see source picture AND waveforms at the same time???"

But they seem to keep picking off Avid features one at a time.
