Re: iMac Pro and ISIS 5500 not playing well together

I installed 18.5 and restarted. I was able to copy files from the ISIS to my desktop up to 95MB but it errors out with any file I tried over 220MB (didn't have files between 95 and 220 to try) The playback also chokes right away if I try to play movies located on the ISIS workspace. Thanks for sticking with us.

Same thing for me.  Installed 18.5, restarted my computer.  My copy of files from the ISIS to my desktop only made it to 8MB before it errored out.  Launched Media Composer and the playback stopped after a few seconds.  I can still copy things to the ISIS without any issues.  Thanks for the help.

Re: iMac Pro and ISIS 5500 not playing well together

I've found a solution (actually Avid support gave me a solution).  I'm connected now with a USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet adapter and the problem seems to have completely gone away.  Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that we shouldn't connect that way but it's working for me.

Would love to know if this works for anyone else.

NEXIS 18.6 was released and has a couple of fixes in the client manager specific to the Mac and iMac Pro. I encourage you upgrade to this client.

Re: iMac Pro and ISIS 5500 not playing well together

I  upgraded my iMac Pro to 18.6, but am still getting the -36 error message when trying to copy files from the ISIS server to my desktop. Can copy some sub 50MB files but it is hit or miss if I get the -36 error.

With NEXIS 18.6, this is officially supported. I'm not sure why the built-in Ethernet isn't working for you.

I've also upgraded to 18.6 and connected via the built-in Ethernet and it doesn't work for me either.  Error -36 when copying from the ISIS to my desktop.

Connecting through USB-C to Ethernet adapter works.

The mac oS error -36 problem stems from the “dot-underscore” companion files that Mac OS X's HFS+ filesystem creates for files when they get moved to FAT16 or FAT32 volumes. The problem is observed when folders from a Windows-compatible volume get moved to a Mac and then back again. The dreaded “Error Code -36″ message is the result.

If you are experiencing this problem, you can run a simple dot_clean utility to remove the hidden "dot-underscore" files from your drive.

    Folks

Getting a case created for this so we can get the bug identified looked at.

Adding most of you to the case as long as I can find your email.

Re: iMac Pro and ISIS 5500 not playing well together

This is a known issue - connecting 1GigE using the built-in 10GigE NIC in the iMac Pro to ISIS. 10 and 1GigE works with NEXIS and 10GigE works with ISIS. The current workaround is to use the USB adapter.

Re: iMac Pro and ISIS 5500 not playing well together

What's the official Avid bug tracking #? When is this going to be fixed? Avid has been aware of this specific issue since at least April 2018.

Workarounds like this are for free software, not commercial software where users and companies pay thousands for annual support.
