Avid will not rebuild database files. All media offline.

    Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting my Avid project back online. All my media is in the Avid Mediafiles folder, however every clip is offline and unable to relink to any media. I've tried some of the following fixes below with no luck.

    • Clip > Relink. No media found
    • Delete database files in each number folder within Avid Mediafiles. Avid has not rebuilt these files upon restart.
    • Created new numbered folders on the same drive and moved all media.
    • AMA link to MXF files in these folders. Media will not connect, and the console asks me to "choose AMA plugin"
    • Import bin into new project. Still offline.
Any ideas? This issue is now holding up an urgent project! Thanks in advance

Try creating some tone media on that media drive. That should "test@ permissions

You can't AMA link to Avid media files stored in the Avidmediafiles folder.

Media tool shows you whats there.

You don;t say how your Avid media went off line? what caused that may be a clue.

Pat's suggestion is best place to start, because if your databases aren't getting rebuilt, than there's something suspect with whatever kind of media system you are using (i.e., local vs. NAS, etc.).  By creating simple media on that volume, you are initiating a functional MXF location, and I'd bet if you moved your old media into this newly created folder, it would rebuild.
