workflow for students on location; MCFirst?

Dear Forum - teaching one day a week at U.Westminster, which has massive investment in Avid but can't give a laptop with full MC to group filming in Tamazigh Morocco soon.

Should i advise they install Avid First? - would they be able to link and log, subclip and translate, in a usable set of bins to  feed into their Nexus setup back in London?

Any advice v welcome. Several editing tutors here but I'm zooming between tutor groups :)

I would install the trial version, it'll work for an entire month with no limitations.

Not sure MCFirst can share much, others might shime in.

Main thing is whether bins would copy over. So that simultaneous logging/translation/subclipping would be retrievable info for them. Remembering my joy when that became a location workflow for my own projects! But only just getting to know University of Westminster setups (anyone out there in the forum....???)

With a Trial version? Oh yes, it would just work perfectly.

As long as the project name is the same on each machine to avoid later mediafiles confusion.

I agree. I'm pretty sure you can't share a First project or bins with the full version of MC.

MC first and MC regular have no compatibilty at all. You can't exchange projects or bins.n Its a dead end. I'd go the trial route.

Thanks, Pat. Luckily they have a specific editing tutor, not just 'film-maker' me! Let's see what they end up with.
