Avid Export help. I'm not a new kid

    Hi All,

I mostly do color correction. Doing it on Resolve, Avid Symphony, Premiere.

Like a lot of Resolve colorist have moved to PC.

So here is the issue. Still need to deliver ProREsHQ mostly.

Many of my deliverables need 6 or even 10 tracks audio.

So workflow has been in Avid to do a Mixdown to 175x and have the audio tracks needed at it's own Seq.

This let's me do a Same As Source (175x) and also let's me set audio to DirectOut. As far as I know this is the only way from Avid to export multi  audio tracks.

Now the tricky part. taking that file and making a Legitimate ProResHQ file. The rub is. Adobe/Premiere/Media encoder don't read DnX levels right. So I can't just throw it into encoder on a MAC and set it up. Yes I can put it into Premiere and then throw a "levels" EFX and tweak that then export.

YES I have looked into the few "non-oficail" ProREs makers. there are issues there i don't need to get into.

    So any thought?

    Hi Evan,

I was going to point you over to the discussions on Lift Gamma Gain but then realised you'd been involved in those!

I use FootageStudio from Acrovid.com. It support Prores up to 444 and 8 channels of audio. There's a trial version available and it's relatively inexpensive. To be honest, I mostly use it for the video denoising function, but the conversions I've done with it have all come out well.

Spitballing here - but can you open up the DNX file in QT on a Mac and export as ProRes. I've done this for delivery before and its worked out well. Seems to be pretty much just a re-wrap.

I know you're on a PC now, but you said "The rub is. Adobe/Premiere/Media encoder don't read DnX levels right. So I can't just throw it into encoder on a MAC and set it up." - so didnt know if you had access to a Mac.
