    Re: FrameFlex in multicam mode

Sorry you misinterpreted my tone Nick, I did try to make it clear that in fact, I wans't having a go but merely pointing out that this is a feature that would be greatly welcomed and that workarounds suck, much as you had done earlier in the thread.  I'm sorry you took that personally. Please don't compare what I said to someone making racist comments, I'm not interested in having that associated with posts I make on this forum, I think that was unnecessary.

Stinks that Frame Flex doesn't work in multicam mode.  This will only become more of an issue as we cut 6K, 8K, "whatever K" footage moving forward.  Avid needs a way to access frame flex within a multi cam sequence. A way to open the multi cam group like a nested layer and access the frame flex within? Does that ability exist in 2018.12?   (I don't remember hearing anything about that in the much-lauded multicam update hoopla last month.)

There are so many variations of requests, so many potential needed workflows— it’s staggering. I think it’s helpful (like in the above post) to simply ask for what each of us wants and why, to build forward momentum.

I think our engineers are always steps ahead in terms of long-range planning, but perhaps now and here would be a good time and place to hear a little from them about their overall vision for future releases, re: Multi-cam, FrameFlex, Crop/Zooms, Pan & Zooms, 3D Warps, Sub-frame Audio slipping & Grouping from Tineline.

I don’t use any other NLE, but my question is this: is there a product that allows mixed frame-size, mixed frame rate, Pan/Zoom, Crop/Repositioning of Multicam?

We are having this problem too.  We are on Avid 2018.11.0.  No Frame Flex in Multicam even though individual clips have Frame Flex.  Come on Avid.

    2018.12.3 Same issue.

Not just annoying to have to commit multicam edits before frameflexing but also not efficient if theres multicam changes to to the cut after the 'commit multi cam edits/frameflexing" happens. Avid please address. Thank You.

2018.12.5 same issue - no frame flex with group clips and once I match frame to the group clip, also the subclip has no frame flex information anymore.

all different setups in various editing suites. my own: MC 2018.2, OSX 10.12.6, iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4,2 GHz Intel Core i7, 40GB RAM, Radeon... [view my complete system specs]

Just to give this one a nudge.

Also have the same issue, frameflex not working in multicam mode.

The last version of MC where it worked was 2018.2

Commit multicam edits workaround may be acceptable at edit lock, but not before.

Does anyone have an update please?

This should really be fixed.  Frameflex in multicam is needed badly.

Hello Avid engineers. When will we have frameflex with Multicam clips.

I'm stuck to using resize on clips.

Having this problem still in 2018.12.10 (working on a facility system so can't try the latest version), to add to all the 4K/8K/etc issues, a more down to Earth problem I am facing is cutting a lot of covid-lockdown-smartphone-shot angles where clips end up on their side and need a 90 degree rotate in frameflex. Doesn't work in MultiCam of course.

Pretty sure you can do all this in FCPX, plus the ability to adjust multiclips once created, and apply whatever effect you like to an angle (even have a composite as an angle). For all its faults, FCPX's multicam functionality is exceptional (IMO).

With your 90 degree-off footage, are you aware you can or have you tried Transcoding the (presumably MP4) with the FrameFlex coorection baked-in?

Just curious, how many individual camera sources are used in your GroupClips?

    Re: FrameFlex in multicam mode

.Just tried it again: on v2018.12, Rotate at any angle is not propagating into a Group Clip used in a Sequence. A simple Zoom-In did work. The OP is correct, I would say. this was on transcoded Media, and also on Linked clips used in the Group.

Also tried making a new Group Clip incorporating a camera master clip (linked) that was Rotated. Only the zoom transferred to a new GroupClip or to a new Sequence using it. But not the Rotate.

So, it seems that for use in Groups, if Rotate is needed at early stages of editing, a pre-Transcode to a FF-baked, Rotated Clip, possibly at a higher Resolution, would be needed for normal multicam editing.
