    Dynamic Media Folder-BGS Question??

I'm running v8.6.5 on a PC, Win 7-64. Since v8.6.2, my Background Services/Dynamic Media Folder has been wonky. I've finally realized what the problem is.

I, routinely, keep my edit bay disconnected from the network, primarily to not connect to the internet. Problem is, as soon as I disconnect from the network, I can no longer access the Dynamic Media Folders. Note that all my DMF's are local and not elsewhere on the network.

Maybe a dumb question, but, is there a workaround? Why is MC 8.6.5 dependent on being networked into my Home network?

Not sure I'm asking the right question, maybe this is a Home Network configuration issue. But, I never saw this before v 8.6.2

Help? Can anyone guide me to how to fix this?

    -Bill

MC 8.6.2 had installer issues and should have been completely removed before installing another version. Did you uninstall 8.6.2 before installing another version?  That's not a guaranteed fix for your trouble but 8.6.2 caused serious problems.

yes MC 8.6.2 had installer issues which We resolved.  Theinstaller/crash issues for 8.6.3 and 8.6.2 - are still there - we simply advise all customers (and notify CS) that an uninstall is required. Fixed in 8.6.4

I've uninstalled, completely, and reinstalled, multiple times to no avail. Opened a trouble ticket this afternoon.

    Hey Marianna...

Seasons greetings to ya, back at ya...

Here's the ticket I filed: Background Services Manager Failure [Case : 03103464]

The reply I got told me to delete the Editor Transcode folder in SAFE mode, before reinstalling in normal mode. Sadly, even in SAFE mode, it won't let me have access to the Interplay AME folder. Reported that back and awaiting a reply.

    Thanx for taking an interest.

    Re: Dynamic Media Folder-BGS Question??

    UPDATE:

With Customer Support help, I was able to determine that I can get DMF to operate correctly if I disable my internet WiFi card. Customer Support has not seen this kind of error before. As of last Friday, 12-16-16, they were going to elevate the problem to Avid engineering. I have not heard any further feedback since.

Have you tried to  delete the Network profile then launched MC without it?

    Re: Dynamic Media Folder-BGS Question??

    Xmas cheer! ;)

Yeah, first thing I tried. That solves the problem, but, as soon as I create a new network profile, the DMF malfunctions again. My workaround is to disable the network profile by disabling the network card. Really, a pretty useable workaround, since I don't normally go online with my edit workstation, anyway.

It's curious 'cuz BGS works fine. MC just can't connect to the DMF folders if I have a network profile defined.
