Hi,
in MC 8.6.5, I have in the timeline 2 tracks, each one with 8 cameras multicam (same show but 1 track = live and the other = rehearsal)
If I switch the viewer on the top track, V2, the multicam viewer continue to show the v1 multicam.
There is no problem if I open the project on a 8.6.1 version (PC and MAC tested)
Solved by uninstall 8.6.5 and back to 8.6.1. The editor can work now.
(Problem tested on a "old" MacPro, confirmed on a PC)
William.
Hi William,
I asked support team to investigate this issue, here is the reference case number 03103675.

Ralph
Based on other discussions in the forum, I think you will find that the way you describe multicam workin in 8.6.5 is how Avid believes it should.
And the way it was working in some past versions was a defect (bug).
Not 100% sure of this but that was what I got from the digging around.

Jef is right on this one.... it usse to have issued and was rcorrected to this behavior. However I will tuch base with the tech who works the issue and see what they find out.

Hi Marianna !
Does it mean that in Avid MC we can have "only" 1 multicam track ? We do a lot of music shows and documentaries here in Europe for years and our editors used this fonction (not really a "bug" for me !) :
1 "base" multicam track with the good cameras timecode synced
1 or more tracks with 2nd take (or rehearsal)
and sometimes one more with wings or making-of....
so convenient !
And I don't know how to do it differently...
but let see what your techs will say :-)
And next week I have a 18 cameras show to edit : what is your recommended method ? (I mean with the tracks, no problem for us here with transcode or proxies (DnxHR LB we use a lot) as we have a very fast 12 drives server)

William

I won't speak for Marianna, but what you describe is how I understand the intent.
But I am in agreement with you that this is not the best method. I was happy when the "bug" showed up. Very useful.
Another bug that showed up for a while then went away was having Avid automatically give up control of hardware IO (AJA / Blackmagic, etc) when you sent MC to the background. This was a huge help when hopping back and forth to After Effects. The recently fixed "correct" way screws me with great regularity by ticking off both After Effects and / or the Hardware IO software meaning I have to restart all aps and sometimes the whole system!!! That really needs to change!!!
But I digress ......
This has changed for 8.7 - you now have an option to either force Multicam to V1 or to the monitored track. Don't recall the name of the option. Or did I just dream that one?

Hmmmmm. You may be onto something. Looked at What's New in 8.7 and found:
Controlling the Track Shown in Split View
Need to test that.
Jef (just wish they would do something like to this for the IO issue ....)
