    BM buys Ultimatte and Fairlight.

Adding another great keyer to their line up and the prospect for excellent audio capabilities.

Agreed.  They are certainly going for it.

However, I wish they would just slow down a bit on acquisitions and focus on their edtor in Resolve and make it good.  Getting better, but I would not use it for "heavy-lifting" editorial.  Yet.

The only possible good thing about the Genarts sale is that maybe they will lower their prices - they are very expensive, especially for Avid, but still the best.  Strange that Adobe Premiere and After Effects package is significantly cheaper to purchase.  Is it price gouging or the fact that is it is much harder to write plug ins for Avid as compared to adobe?

My guess? Volume. The install base for Premiere is probably significantly bigger than Avid.

This old (2004) web screen shot I have is in alignment with your guess. They probably sold less for Shake than Avid hince the price tag. Also, the "sale" price to push units! Embarrassed
