    MC8.6.2 (8.6.3) - Backround Services problem

    Hi all,

I have a more detailed description of the problem, which was already partially unfinished in another thread, but not related to the original topic.

The point is that if you restart your PC stops working background service while transcoding the material. First of all crashes - stops work Avid Editor (according to details is a TranscodeServiceWorker.exe). Then it is necessary to restart several MC, and several times stopped manually Avid Editor, probably even stop and turn off AvidBgServices ..... exact procedure I have not identified yet.
Then begins trancodace the background work until you restart the PC.

In MC8.6.1 AvidBgServices it works. Unfortunately, it is this version again error in view DNxHR codecs.

Just for the record though it probably does not affect (tested in other projects)
Project 1080 50p, 50p source material UHD (mov / h264) AMA link, transcoded into DNxHR codec.
    Win 10.

    Regards

Re: MC8.6.2 - Backround Services problem

I guess you probably got a sequence of steps for commissioning AvidBgTranscode.

    1.Turning on the PC

    2. turn on the MC

    3. entering clips for transcoding - setting to work in the background, wait until there is a stopping Avid Editor and confirm termination

    3. off MC

    4. stop AvidBgServices

    5. AvidBgServices off

    6. turn on the MC, restore transcoding a clip where an error is displayed .. ... uf

    Hi

8.6.2 is no longer available in the Current Releases page.

It seems that 8.6.2 is a problematic version so they decided to remove it for now.

Re: MC8.6.2 - Backround Services problem

Since, 8.6.2 installed and launched on my system, and was working without serious problems, I decided to keep it. I began to notice some very strange behavior with background services. The little gree circle icon would turn grey, then back to green, on a random basis. If I clicked on it, an error message would pop up, telling me BGS was not running, despite the fact that I had a file in que and processing successfully.

After that, I went back to 8.6.1.

    Hello,
I know about that, but to off version was due to problems during installation, this is more a question of functionality ....
I wrote here a problem that was recorded somewhere.

    Hi,

Thanks for the info, unfortunately 8.6.1. incorrectly displays DNxHR codecs, just what I need.

Re: MC8.6.2 - Backround Services problem

    MC8.6.3 - the same behavior as MC8.6.2.

    Another observation:

the fall AvidBgServices (ABgS arrows are red) are in the drop-down menu is active both "Start Avid Bg services" and "Stop Avid Bg Services".

In normal operation is always active, only one bid ....

Re: MC8.6.2 - Backround Services problem

Just for reference, as far as I'm aware the only change from 8.6.2 to 8.6.3 was to fix the install issue.  I know you're not implying anything different but some people might misunderstand.

Re: MC8.6.2 - Backround Services problem

    i installed 8.6.3. @ a clients pc. (was still on 8.4).

now the BG services manager is not running anymore (always greyed out or if trying to activate gets the red cross).

the timeline BG-service "circle" inside avid is red.

no matter what - the service cannot be started...

on my pc nevertheless its working flawless, eventhough i have to start the service manually - does not autostart as  did before in older versions.

Re: MC8.6.2 - Backround Services problem

Don't know if this applies to the 8.4 to 8.6 upgrade, but with a previous upgrade I've had to manually uninstall the old version and delete the remainings of it before installing the new one in order to have background services properly running: after uninstalling delete all of the MC related folders in "Program Files", "Common data", and the like; pay attention to what You trash, especially if You have third party AVX plugins installed. Sorry, I can't remember which version I came from and was going to, but if You're out of ideas this might be worth a try.
