MC 8.6 - 12 bit colour depth greyed out in format tab?

I previously had MC 8.4.4 running on Mavericks 10.9.5 and was able to set the format to RGB709 and then choose 10 or 12 bit colour depth and was able to export 12 bit RGB ProRes 4444 files.

With some down-time available, I have just clean-installed El Capitan 10.11.5 and tried MC 8.6. I have found that the bit depth option is always greyed out and (shows 10 bit), no matter what format / clour space I select. Am I missing something? Is this a known bug to be fixed?

Re: MC 8.6 - 12 bit colour depth greyed out in format tab?

    Hi Ralph,

Many thanks for raising this support case re MC8.6. I thought I was going crazy. I can confirm (having now uninstalled MC 8.6 and gone back to a clean install of MC 8.5.3 on OS Yosemite 10.10.5) that 8.5.3 works fine regarding the 12 bit option (just like it did on MC 8.4.4).

Just hoping the subcaps are behaving in 8.5.3 :) (they were good in 8.4.4).

    best regards, Danny

Re: MC 8.6 - 12 bit colour depth greyed out in format tab?

    Hi Ralph,

    UPDATE:

I was contacted by support who were able to confirm that an I/O device needs to be connected (even if it's only a 10-bit box), for the 12-bit RGB option to appear in the format tab. I was unable to do this with my MXO2, since there are no drivers for El Capitan. (Yosemite is the final OS supported on the Matrox MXO2 - Blackmagic here I come).

It was also confirmed by support that if you AMA link to a 12-bit ProRes 4444, for example, and export same as source, you do get a true 12-bit export - even if there is no I/O box connected and therefore no option to set the format to 12-bit RGB.

    regards, Danny

Glad that it's all sorted out. Big thanks to Eduardo from support team.

Did you even try installing the MXO2 drivers?  Working fine for me on 10.11.5.
