Random crashes using 8.5.2 on a Macbook Pro Retina

    Hi,

I recently used 8.5.2 on a job using a Macbook Pro Retina and suffered 3 random crashes. It was a quick turnaround edit so I reverted back to 8.5.1 and no crashes. Has anyone eles noticed stability issues with the lastest update to Media Composer?

    Cheers,

    Kevin

When you say crashes, do you mean vaporizing? (The app just disappears and you get the prompt to send a crash report to Apple.)

Or do you mean segmentation faults / assertion errors (with error messages) or hangups (spinning beach balls)?

    Hi Kevin,

Vaporizing. These happened for no particular reason, scrubbing a timeline, clickin on a clip ... I was using linked XDCAM media. As soon as I uninstalled 8.52 and reinstalled 8.5.1 there were no more crashes. 8.5.2 was very unstable for me.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

Some people have seen that (myself included). They are working on fixing those issues in 8.5.3.

You're probably best to stay at 8.5.1 if it's working for you until then.

Hi Kevin's I as well am seeing this on my mac system with 8.5.2 I see it more on the applacation of a audio suite  render FX you add the fx open it to set up the fx and get a spinning beach ball followed by the pgm abruptly closing and a send crash report rebooting same thing over and over but not every time
