    Assistance needed replacing master clip/relinking

    Howdy!

Been using MC for a few years. This came up recenty while helping a friend edit their film...

I was asked to do some compositing on a master clip. I did my work and we would love it if that clip could replace the previous master clip in Avid. I thought this was an easy thing to do...(haha!)

Why? We would like to avoid having to match frame re-edit the new clip into the sequence.

I thought this was possible. Perhaps our original workflow was not kosher.

Workflow:Transcoded to Pro Res 422 (outside of Avid), AMA Linked all clips to Pro Res Files,  Created sequence(s)

New composited clip has same frame rate as original.

Thanks for any suggestions. I searched and found related answers but they were either circuitious or seemed non-specific to our situation.

I like applying the same "TapeID" to both clips (and matching "Aux1 TC" if normal Start TC doesn't match between the clips already), selecting the new clips in the bin, right-clicking the SEQUENCE, and going into Relink - then setting up the relink dialog to relink to selected items in ALL open clips, relinking by TapeID and AUX1 TC.

Thanks Traveler! I will give it a go and report back

Clip we have is from a web archive so TC is not embedded so I am guessing I would need to add an AUX TC?
