Media Composer v8.5.2 -- NOW AVAILABLE!

Avid is pleased to announce the release of Media Composer | Software v8.5.2.

    HOW TO GET:
The latest update to Media Composer is available worldwide as of April 7, 2016 from the Avid Download Center or through the Application Manager.

The ability to launch Media Composer software is dependent on the status of the customers Upgrade and Support Plan on the date this software version was released.

     - Please read the How to Update Your License page before upgrading to this release.

     - More detailed information is also available on the Upgrade and Support Plan FAQ page.

     - The FlexVersioner, as has been stated in the past, is no longer supported for this release.  See the Support Upgrade article for instructions on how to upgrade your dongle based  or SW licensing based System.

    BUG FIXES:
v8.5.2 includes almost 30 bug fixes, including:

    - Exporting a greater than 20 min. sequence as a QuickTime movie caused the system to crash.
    - In some instances, Mac systems would get a spinning beachball after 15-20 minutes of editing.
    - Support for 64 audio channels in EDLs.
    - "StreamingPlayConsumerTimeout" messages when working playing back in 12-bit mode on DNxIO hardware.
    - Some keyboard shortcuts would not work in the Paint tool.
    - Cropped titles in the Title Tool in some instances.

    OS SUPPORT:
This release continues support on Mac OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks) and 10.10.1 through 10.10.5 (Yosemite) and 10.11.3 (El Capitan).

NOTE: To those users upgrading to El Capitan, please deactivate & uninstall Media Composer FIRST, upgrade the OS, then reinstall Media Composer.  If you use Avid Artist DNxIO, you must also uninstall the Desktop Video software and reinstall it after the OS upgrade.

    README:
The README & "What's New" documents for 8.5 are available here.  The README for 8.5.2 is attached to this thread. As always, please read the docs before upgrading to understand any known issues.

Can anybody else confirm the following:

    1) AMC 8.5.2
when I select a muted clip and delete it with "backspace", avid crashes instantly.
but if I un-mute the clip first and then select and delet it it works.

    did not happen before.

    2) this already happend with the last AMC 8.5.1 version
When i close a bin, the saving dialogue does not disappear.
Only when i hit "Save all", it disappears.

Not seeing those issues here. Have you tried a new Avid user?

Does not crash for me, deletes fine.

Anyone see this?......after exiting CC mode back to SR, my composer stays in the CC window, it does not resize and go back to my SR window settings.

I'm on OS X 10.11.4 (which I'm fully aware isn't supported), and using the latest AppMan version and MC 8.5.2.  I'm trying to start up Media Composer and it's only giving me the software activation screen and not letting me past it.

My questions is... is this a problem that might come up since my OS isn't supported?  Or is this a completely different problem that I should be able to fix?

I've always made sure I never upgrade my OS to the latest version until Avid releases its fixes, but going back into my App Store updates, I somehow jumped to 10.11.4 in late March without my recollection.  I didn't think it updated automatically so I must've somehow overlooked it, which is my own fault. Sad

I haven't tested and don't know the ramifications. What version of AppMan is it?

I would try contacting Avid Support, since it's a licensing issue it's free; see if there's something else going on there.

Application Manager 2.5.4.325.  Under Licensing it says Media Composer is activated.  Under Account, it just sits at the Authenication... (spinning wheel) screen.

Basically when I say I want to activate electronically, it opens App Man, then hangs at the Account screen.
