8.5 Audio Scrubbing heard without caps lock or shift being on?

    Hi there

I've been working on an 8 camera multicam sequence inan SD project for the last few todays. Today I noticed that I can hear the audio when scanning the timeline (as the audio scrub sounds) but without shift being pressed or caps lock on. If I press caps lock and turn it on and off again then this stops.

    Possible bug?

Also I've noticed that when alt+tab(ing) between Avid and my internet browser - when I alt+tab back to Avid my Caps lock will be on when it wasn't before. I'm on a Mac.

OK...this is bizarre.  I was thinking I was accidently hitting my caps lock key as I usually found it in that state and I thought I was going crazy.

It's not crzay...I am seeing the CAPS LOCK light up when I switch between Avid and other programs as well.

    Will report...

Here's the scoop for all interested...

There is now a setting (not sure when it was added, but in 8.5.x for sure) under General called "Enable Caps Lock Protection."

When checked, this is SUPPOSED to disable caps lock when MC is no longer the focused app. Theoretically, it allows you to keep caps lock on so you can audio scrub, but then turn it off when you switch to another program. It would prevent you from shouting in a Skype window, for example.

However, it appears to not work as described. Instead, it has the tendancy to enable caps lock within MC when switching back, whether or not it was like that when you left. But if you uncheck it, the phantom caps lock enablign does in fact go away.

Re: 8.5 Audio Scrubbing heard without caps lock or shift being on?

I have this issue in 8.6.4.

I tried the general setting KK describes, but the issue persists. Switching caps lock on and off again fixes it temportarily. Is this a bug?

    Cheers!

I had turned on the setting, and it seems like I've noticed the caps lock on a couple times, but not for a few days... BUT, i now can't turn off audio scrub, caps on/caps off, restart.  I hate audio scrub, never use it, and now it's stuck on!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Ah, went away when I changed sequences. Very odd.

Oops- it was just muted. Really, I've been driving this rig for almost 25 years :)

    Still have audio scrub. Dang.

Have you tried a new Avid user to see if the problem exists there?

Thanks Kevin.  A full computer restart cleared it.
