Still the same after the AppMan update... I will do it manually.

Re: Media Composer v8.4.3 | NOW AVAILABLE

For sure there are things that are more sad in the world at the moment.

As for updating, I've always been an advocate of a complete uninstall (manually removing stuff the uninstaller doesn't touch), that makes for a neater more stable system.

The PC side of Avid have had patch installers for years, but on Mac it's still a bit of voodoo magic. So, once bitten...

Sad that you took a simple statement out of context, on an editing forum, for your own need for attention.

    Peace.

Re: Media Composer v8.4.3 | NOW AVAILABLE

Always look in the Licensing Forum first peeps.....

This is pinned to the top of the forum threads....

Important| MyAvid & AppMan Support Date Inconsistencies

Unfortunaely, there is a bug in AppMan 2.4.5 ( IT-4894) which will possibly display your old support date on some of the AppMan tabs and generates messages that you need to renew.  Annoying to say the least since it was introduced when AppMan 2.4.5 launched but should not affect MC  8.4.3  - it should work fine.

If it doesn’t allow you to launch MC 8.4.3, then DEACTIVATE the license within the AppMan and then REACTIVATE it again right away.  if dongle based, download the updater.avd again and update thru AppMan.

    Then launch MC 8.4.3.

MC looks at the license itself to determine if it will launch a version of the editing software or not based on your My Avid.   If AppMan is showing there old date yet launches MC 8.4.3 then you are fine.   If not then Deactivate/Reactivate from AppMan is required.

Disregard the messages. Anyone that still has issues should contact support directly and log a case.

Re: Media Composer v8.4.3 | NOW AVAILABLE

My App Manager says either connecting and then logging out but actually does neither.

I have a dongle and I've tried updating by downloading the updater.avd again but this doesn't work either.

    Any ideas??

The App Manager regularly appears to have problems, when are Avid going to make it more fit for purpose?

Might be because the updater on your MY Avid needs to be updated.

Let me create a support case and get them back to you with a manually created updater.avd

    Hi Pierre,

Would you mind describing your method of doing this?  I've always used the uninstaller, but if that doesn't get everything that should be deleted, how best to find these 'hidden' (from Uninstaller anyway) files?

    thanks, Malcolm

Re: Media Composer v8.4.3 | NOW AVAILABLE

So I did the 8.4.4 update manually last week. I renewed my support plan yesterday, and while the dates are fine on the website I get a warning from the application manager that my support is about to expire and I need to renew. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Re: Media Composer v8.4.3 | NOW AVAILABLE

Here is what I do, based on the START HERE info and more info I gathered over the years:

    - uninstall as much as possible with the Uninstallers found in /Applications/Avid_Uninstallers

    - trash all Avid folders in /Applications and /Applications/Utilities

    - trash Avid folder and content in /Library/Application Support

    - trash Digidesign folder and content in /Library/Application Support

    - trash iZotope folder and content in /Library/Application Support

    - trash PACE folder and content in /Library/Application Support

    - trash com.avid.* files in /Library/LaunchAgents

    - trash com.avid.* files in /Library/LaunchDaemons

    - trash PACE.* files in /Library/LaunchDaemons

    - trash avid.* files in /Library/StartupItems (older versions of Avid)

    - trash avid.* files in /System/Library/Extensions

    - trash com.avid.* files in /Library/LaunchAgents

    - trash Avid folders and content in /Users/Shared/

(the AvidMediaComposer folder holds your Shared Avid Projects and the Attic, you may want to save those first)

    - trash AVX folder and content in /Users/Shared/

    - trash Avid folders and content in /Users/yourusername/Documents

    - trash Pro Tools folders and content in /Users/yourusername/Documents

    - trash iZotope folders and content in /Users/yourusername/Documents

For those, hold the ALT key as you open the Go menu in the Finder in order to access the Library hidden folder:

    - trash Avid folder and content in /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support

    - trash Avid folder and content, and com.avid* files in /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences

    - trash com.avid folder and content in /Users/yourusername/Library/Saved Application State

For those you need to use the Go To Folder menu in the Go menu:

    - trash com.avid* files in /private/var/db/receipts

    - trash com.iZotope* files in /private/var/db/receipts

    - trash com.pace* files in /private/var/db/receipts

There might be more, but that's pretty thorough I think. If you have third party monitoring (AJA, BMD, etc), there might be more stuff to remove. Also, if you have Pro Tools on the same system, it won't be happy once you remove some of its files.

Once done, I restart the Mac and repair permissions on the boot drive.

You'll notice that I trash systematically the Avid User folder. I recreate a new user each time I reinstall - I don't have thousands of mods to my keyboard and shortcuts though.

Re: Media Composer v8.4.4 | NOW AVAILABLE

I installed Version 8.4.4 and it's seems fine except it won't link to 4K-MXF files from the FS7!

    The console tells me:

    (Plugin Name = AS-11 Plug-In Avid Technologhy Inc. Version = 1.4.0.6895)does not support xx.mxf

Is there a new AS-11 AMA Plugin available for download to work with MC 8.4.4 ???
