no Avid Pan and Zoom in MC 7.0.2 on Mac platform?

I upgraded from MC 6.0 awhile back and had already noticed an issue with Pan and Zoom not always working (black holes where an image should be). I have projects that were started in MC 3 and very image heavy so this is a big issue for me.

I have seen other posts with PC solutions but not for Mac. The issue seems to be about 32 vs 64 bit architecture but I am at a loss as to what I should do about it.

    I have Mac OS 10.7.5 /Processor  2 x 2.4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon / Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB / with Black Magic

What is the workaround for resizing images without losing resolution? I am flummoxed.

    thanks for your consideration

The Pan & Zoom  tool did change from 6.5 to 7 and one thing to check is that you're using it correctly.
Before v7, you could put the effect on Filler and it would work. This wasn't how it was suppoed to be used, but I finished projects from numerous editors who used it that way and it worked. Wasn't meant to, but did.

In  v7, it doesn't work like that. You must put the filter onto an segment of media. If you don't and put it on filler, you just see black.

So check that you're using it correctly in v7, first.

Also there were some issues with long file paths.  If your picture is buried deep down into a bunch of long named folders, get it moved up closer to the top level and see if that helps.

Must think of something clever to go here...

    A fix in v7.0.4.1

    • Bug Number: UDevC00185574. An image with a long name that resided at least 5 folders deep on an ISIS system, did not import into an Avid Pan & Zoom effect.
