Right now, all we see in the timeline is the topmost effect icon. My assistant occasionally misses that I have nested effects on clips. Could there be a symbol on a clip to indicate that there are other effects inside of the one on top?
Thanks
There are two ways to do this. First, you can select "Show Effect Contents" in Timeline settings. Nested effects will be shown in the timeline, especially if you make your video track tall enough to see them. Second, you can create a Sequence Report. Right click on the sequence in a bin, choose Sequence Report and then select the option "Create Effect Location List" and "Show Nested Effects Only". Not as easy as showing it in the timeline, but it'll take you to your nested effects pretty quickly.

Ha!
You learn something new every day... 20 years of cutting on Avid and I never bothered to turn on that setting. Thanks Steve!
But still, a little indicator would be helpful. I see that when I'm editing on my laptop and need to keep my tracks small, the 'show effect contents' doesn't work. So a little "+" or something next to the top effect would be good.
One caveat to "Show Effect Contents" -- it doesn't show every nested effect. If your clip only has 'one element' effects (like the ones in the Image category) then the split clip icon doesn't appear in the timeline. But if one of the effects on the clip is a two element effect (blend, key, etc.) then the split appears.
Then my request for a "+" indicator stands :)
(though I will now keep this box checked)
