    MC 6.5.4.2 AMA Transcode: STREAM_SIZE_EXCEEDED, className:ameBaseStream error

    I constantly get an error STREAM_SIZE_EXCEEDED while transcoding some AMA linked clips from a Canon 5DMIII. Always the same files are not working, some do. The following exception is thrown:

    throwing STREAM_SIZE_EXCEEDED from ameBaseStream::SetPosition
    Exception caught in APlayer::Play - Exception: STREAM_SIZE_EXCEEDED, className:ameBaseStream

    What I did:

    1. Link to AMA File (or Volume)
    2. Transcode to DNxHD 120, convert audio sample rate (48kHz) and bit depth (24) activated, target audio PCM (MXF)
    3. start transcoding

    What I tried to fix the problem but didn’t help

    • Repair Disk Permissions
    • There is plenty of space on the disk
    • Create new project
    • Create new user profile
    • Remove site settings
    • Uninstall MC 6.5.4.1 and install MC 6.5.4.2 (none of them worked)
    • Reset PRAM
    • Changed source and target file location from external to internal drive

    What did work:

    • Play AMA clip
    • File > Import clip and transcode it to DNxHD120
    • Convert Clip with Davinci Resolve and drag mdb into bin

    AMA_ListPlugins installed:

    What else can I do? Thanks for any hints!

    I am seeing the same issue with MC Patch v6.5.4.1 for windows. I have logged a case with Avid Support, and hopefully this will be classified as a bug and fixed in a future point release.

    In my case, rolling back to MC 6.5.4 also fixed the issue.

    Thanks a lot for the hints. Good to know that this is a common issue.

    So rolling back to MC 6.5.4 is the only solution .

    Lets hope that AVID fixes this bug, because I do not want to roll back to 6.5.4 which means rolling back OS X to 10.8 as well. I've already installed 10.9.2. If you heare anything, please let me know.

    any news about this issue?

    I have the same issue.
    Mainly the longer clips (bigger files) do not work.
    On supported Mac Pro with OS 10.8.5 and iMac with 10.9.1.
    With MC 7.0.3 I could not replicate the problem.
    But MC 7.0.3 is not the idiale solution in my case.

    any news about this issue?

    Avid support is still working on my case, so nothing new.

    Just had a customer call with the same problem. But he has his MC 6.5.4.2 activated with an MC 8 activation code so a roll back to 6.5.4 is not an option... or I need to request a MC 6.5 activation code.

    Avid... a fix?...Today for a change? Stick out tongue

    Surprising enough to see that this is happening in a version that follows previous ones that don't have this problem. It is SUPPOSED that newer versions are BETTER than older ones, isn't this wright? … so guess according to this sort of revolutionary concept by Avid, the wright choice right now is to roll back at ver 2.8.3 and return almost 10 years back in the workflow process of NLE systems...Big Smile

    Currently all systems cannibalized due to some economical setbacks... but looking forward for a custom system based on an Asus Z9PA-U8 workstation board... [view my complete system specs]
