    avid isis 5000

    Hi all,

i have an issue with deletion ?

Recently i delete bins which contains clips about 50 bins from avid newscutter PC , then I checked my storage management in avid ISIS 5000 free space available still the same size !

These 50 bins equal minimum 8 TB size ? why avid ISIS 5000  did not delete files ?? thank you.

Did you delete the bins or clips? You need to delete the clips in the bin from within NewsCutter. When you delete the clips a dialog should open asking if you'd like to delete the media.

Within Media Composer, open the Tools > Media Tool. Select the workspace(s) where the media is located and the All Projects button; you must press the button and not shift select the projects that show up.

On the bottom of that dialog select Master Clips and Precompute Clips, don't select Media Files.

A bin will open with all the media in it and you'll be able to selectively delete it.

It looks like the drive controller detected a failed drive (read time was 7 seconds) and swapped the global hot spare drive into the RAID set. The failed drive should have both the blue and red LEDs on solid and should be replaced ASAP.

It looks like you're running 4.0.0. This is a very old version and once you've replaced the global hot spare I strongly recomend that you upgrade to the current version of ISIS.

To replace a drive look at the Avid ISIS 5500 | 5000 Setup Guide v4.6. Chapter 8, Page 133.

The software is availabe on the Avid Download Center.

If you're not completely comfortable doing this, I encourge you to hire an ACSR.
