Avid has made Media Composer 7.0.3 compatible with Mavericks...but has yet to "bless" the new MacPro as being compatible with MC 7.

I'd fully expect Avid to be looking at qualifying the new MacPro and from what I've seen of the specs and reviews I can't see any reasons it shouldn't work just fine.

    Pat,

Have you heard anything about Avid working on a solution for connecting the Nitris DX to the new Mac Pro's via some sort of Thundrbolt connection?

No but there is an Avid adapter for Mojo DX via Thunderbolt http://www.avid.com/US/Common/products/shadow-box/dx-thunderbolt so unless there are issues with the higher datarate needed for a Nitris box I'd be hopeful of seeing an adapter for that.

The Mojo Dx via Thunderbolt has been tested, and unfortunately does not work w/ Nitris DX, which supports more RT datastreams etc. than Mojo. There have been reports that the Sonnet Echo Express Tbolt to PCIe interfaces do work with Nitris, as a way to leverage your Nitris on a new Mac Pro.

I have a new Mac Pro arriving today. I guess I will get CS6 up and running while we wait for Avid to approve. Hopefully soon.

I've got MC 7.0.3 up and running on my new Mac Pro 8-core with 2x D700 GPUs. I did have to connect a usb audio interface so that Media Composer would find an audio input on startup and not just refuse to finish launching with an audio initialization error. After that, it's been working fine so far, though I haven't pushed it too hard yet.

    DA-

Long long time no talk...we did a few jobs with Jon Parks back in the day.  I have a new trash can and it is hooked up to my sonnett echo express with a decklink studio card in it and works like a champ.  My RAID array is hooked up thru USB 3 and is doing 250MB/s read and write.  If you have external audio devices, then there's a pretty good chance it will work fine.  I am running MC with symphony option 7.03 and osx 10.9.1.  Good luck.

Hey Brennan! Wow, great to hear from you. Yes, fun times back in the day. Thanks for sharing those tips. I wonder if the Nitris DX will work with the sonnett echo...I am sure we will find out soon. I will try and get my system up and running later this week. I bought the 6 core with the D700 cards. I also purchased a Pegasus2 R6 12TB RAID that will be connected via Thunderbolt 2. I can't wait to get it all working.

    Take care,

    Hi Derrick,

Just curious if you were able to use your sonnet chassis to work with the Nitris DX box.

Ideally I'd like to use the Express-3 TB2 chassis to run my Nitris and (upcoming) RR-X card.  I'll also be using the R6 12TB raid.

I'm hoping to hear you're having success!

    Thanks!
