Internal vs. External Raid for Avid MediaFiles

two questions abuot Avid MediaFiles on a raid:

(e.g. with an HP Z420 and about 4-6tb effective storage)

1 - What gives me better performance in general: an internal or an external raid VIA THUNDERBOLD?

2 - What raid level should I choose for best performance and reliability? raid 5? raid 10?

    thx

    carl

Internal or external makes no difference if connectivity is the same. Internally you may have issues with heat and enough power connection and watts.

RAID 10 should in theory be better but costs more per TB of usable space.
