connecting Nitris DX to the new mac pro?

We have new mac pros coming in December, and x4 'could' be used w/ our current Nitris DXes. I beleive Avid has announced a Thunderbolt to PCIe adapter on the Digidesign side of things, but does anyone know of a solution for connecting Nitris to the new mac pros?

Hope this is not 'speculating', and please don't reply with speculation - just interested in concrete (OK, 'cabled') possibilites to leverage Nitris w/ the new mac pros. And we're aware of the need to wait until Mavericks is approved, too. Thanks for your help!

I think Avid already has a TB solution for Mojo DX. But that's not supported with Nitris DX.

    Hoi Job,

Could you point me to the MojoDX TB adapter? I could not find on the Avid store site.

Looks like that Thunderbolt adapter for the Mojo Dx list for $399 on B&H photo. I hope the Nitris DX will get certified with an adapter like this or some other 3rd party Thunderbolt 2 PCI expansion chassis for the new Mac Pros.

I wonder why this current adapter wouldn't work for the Nitris DX on a already released Thunderbolt MacBook pro or Imac?

If you read the specs, the adapter for Mojo DX is limited to x2 RT streams video & x8 audio channels. Nitris DX is capable of much more than that, so the suspicion is that the Mojo DX adapter is too limiting for Nitris DX.

We have been testing a Sonnet Echo Express SE II Thunderbolt  Expansion Chassis with a Nitris DX and an ATTO Fiber card.

It’s only been a week, but seems to work well with a 2013 model iMac.

Robert, has this setup been working for you since November?

    Thanks,

That's great news - I've been looking at the Sonnet Express line, w/ the hope this might work for Nitris DX too.

Has anyone used one of the Sonnet expansion chassis w/ a Nitris?

It's currently working on 5 iMacs with no issues except one editor gets an occasional audio underrun when playing 15+ tracks. The fiber card is a 4 Gbit model connected to a Terrablock. 8 Gbit fiber cards didn't work.

My contact at Avid was stunned that it works.
