Yes.  Even worse, apparently they've known about it for some time and only chosen to let us know now.

Love my dongle too, and very concerned about cloud sourcing and storage for just this reason.

I got an email from Adobe, so apparently my info was among those compromised.

Ah, the cloud. So when the Internet connection goes out in your facility what do you do then?

For the most part, the Adobe Creative Cloud works fine for me.  You subscribe to the app of choice (ie After Effects) download/install it and you have it for 30 days.  You can disconnect from the net at that point.  You just have to make sure you're connected to the net if you try to launch the app after the subscription has expired.  I had my subscription setup to auto-renew for the last couple of months, but because I don't have any After Effects jobs on the horizon I turned it off.

The info that was hacked (credit card and other personal info) could've just as easily been gotten from a boxed version purchase, the cloud has nothing to do with it.

The part that really bothers me is that they made a corporate decision not to tell anybody ....How can you trust them with security of personal info when there software is cracked almost instantly by a bunch of 17 yr olds ie pirate bay

The cloud model is not for everyone, I however don't want to invest $800 for After Effects CS6 (an app that I use only on occasion). Or $1899 for the full CS6 Production Premium package.

But, regardless of whether one chooses to pay $32/30 days or $800 once Adobe still acquires your personal and credit card info for the transaction, thus no one is safe.

Re: just heard adobe's cloud was hacked

I wonder if that e-mail from Adobe is just someone phishing using the Adobe logo?  I tried to check the "password reset" URL and it came back as unknown.  I also received a similar message from the Sony Reader Store because my Sony e-reader uses Adobe DRM to protect eBook content, according to the message.

Can anyone confirm that the Adobe password reset message is genuine?

You have to go no further than Adobe.com to verify that it's real.
