Is there new filler behaviour at sequence end in MC7?

    Hi,

I've noticed that there is excess filler at the end of my sequences in MC7 that I can't remove.  I'm not complaining though, because I actually like this.  I'm just curious if this was indeed a change made in the new version or if there's something I might have done to make this happen.  Has anyone else experienced this excess filler at the end?  I really like it!

Only in so far as MC seems more susceptible to sometimes not cutting the time line back to the end when I cut the last clip without all tracks selected. Even though there is nothing on the unselected tracks. Here just an annoyance as I now need the extra step of cutting the previously unselected tracks to get rid of the unwanted filler.

Do you have any add-edits breaking the filler tracks at the end of your sequence? I prefer having filler at the end, so I intentionally perform an add-edit on an empty, non sync-locked track and trim it out +9 seconds or so to the right. Throw in a few more add-edits in the empty span just for good measure and the end filler stays put.

Thanks for all this precision: I'd noticed this pattern and assumed it was one of those 'make-it-more-like-FCP' trends (some of the terminology has been throwing me; when did 'ripple-edit' come in to Avid-speak?)

Actually now, I literally cannot delete the filler, even with all the tracks selected.  It is as though the timeline were set to a pre-determined length (like in After Effects)  I don't like this because I can't make the relevant material fit to the timeline with the "command /" shortcut.  Even if I add an edit to all tracks, make a selection and make an extract edit, a sizeable section of filler stays at the end.

Has anyone found a solution to this. I can't get rid of the filler either so it's making it impossible to get an exact duration if I extract material from a timeline.

Maybe it's just a PAL thing but really annoying just the same.

    This is a bug:

    http://community.avid.com/forums/p/122519/715008.aspx

If you never touch the master audio fader, behavior will be the same as the old versions.  The moment you use the master audio fader at all, any duplicated sequences based on that sequence, will not be able to be shortened.

Thanks for the clarification. FYI I didn't touch the master fader and it still happened to me.

Can you not (as a workaround) mark an in point at the seq start and an out point at the required end of last frame and sub sequence the sequence to make a new sequence of the correct length?
