    Timecode Metadata Tape Name Assignment for a tapeless source file at 23.976 fps

    Master Clips in a bin are assigned frame numbers (timecode metadata) that the Avid Media Composer creates.

     

    For Example: AMA-Direct-Link Source file 1920x1080p 23.98 fps quicktime movie the Avid allows a tape name, depending on the current project preset choice, different frame count metadata can be assigned:

     

    HD "1080p/23.976" is the Avid Project Format Preset and the "Modify > Set Source" Command is performed:

     - Timecode frame count metadata Avid seems to be assigning:  0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23, a second is reached and then, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23, another second is reached and then the timecode continues having 24 frames per second.

     

    SD "23.976p NTSC" is the Avid Project Format Preset and the "Modify > Set Source" Command is performed:

     - Timecode frame count metadata Avid seems to be assigning:  0,1,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11,13,14,15,16,18,19,20,21,23, a second is reached and then, 0,1,2,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,14,15,16,17,19,20,21,22, another second is reached and then the timecode continues having 19 frames per second.

     

    Every version of Avid should be tested.
