    The dark art of exporting

    Hello everyone

I have just spent the last 4 days trying to export a 77 minute single shot sequence from Avid MC6.  I tried everything from consolodating to every conceivable variation of video size to video mixdowns (various resolutions), multiple new bins and sequences etc and the same thing kept on happening.  When it got to 54 minutes and 59 seconds the system froze and had to be re-booted.

    I shot on C300 at 25MB/sec

I AMA linked footage into Avid

I was ideally trying to get the footage out for a DVD so under 5gig

In the end I took it out in chunks and then put all those chunks into iMovie and exported that.

Far from ideal and the quality was no where near what I wanted.

There must be a better way - can anyone help?

My system is an imac, 2.7Ghz Intel Core i5.  4GB memory, 1333MHz DDR3.

    Thanksin advance.

    Monty

Did you transcode the C300 files into a DNxHD codec before attempting export?
