Maybe they'll put it in Media Composer | First.. Ahahahah.. It would be ridiculous.

I think this is right. I mean, nobody would introduce an editor today that doesn't have this feature, no matter how inexpensive or non-professional. It's just a basic feature.  Avid First will be ignored and laughed off the stage if it doesn't have this basic, basic feature. It would be like not being able to add transitions.

That being said, Media Composer will likely not have this feature until 2019 or longer based on the roadmap from NAB.

So. Avid FX and the cheapest plugin for this, RED, are both End of Life. MC 2018+ kind of ustable with these old plugins. This now becomes a 1000$ feature to pull off. Continuum/Sapphire to do blending? Having 30 machines do that will not happen. Doing flares and other overlays on TV-shows only in online is not happening. So the struggle is to stay at some kind of Avid MC version that still supports Avid FX but still supports enough new file-formats until this feature arrives. 8.6.5 stable for now.

The "Avid is NLE, not for finishing" is getting really old. With that argument, You could say edit in Avid, do dissolves in After Effects. Blending modes is not an effect, it's as basic as changing transparancy, size, position of a segment.

Could it be possible to crowdfund someone to do a 64-bit version of the dmn transfer plugin? :)

Tried using Fusion Connect to do this, which works but is a hell of a workaround. Not suitable for multi-user environments.
