    Mountain Lion Stability

    Hello,

Getting ready for the big move (curenty SL). We just bought MC 6. I need an assurance.

Is ML already stable? Are you happy?

    Thanks!

ML is stable. Currently on MC 6.0.3.2

The odd (once every few days) inexplicable crash. Slightly more often the occasional hang, but then it recovers.

    Happy.

    Re: Mountain Lion Stability

    MC6 works with 10.6.8

You may want to try MC6 in 10.6.8 and run you system

through it's paces. You can always update to 10.8 afterwards

but you can't revert to 10.6.8

Also you can partition your HD and have the two OS's coexist

We recently upgraded our machines to 6.0.3 and OSX 10.7 and had a lot of crashes during export of H264. This is apparently due to our Mac's being 12-core (8 core work better with MC for some reason)

Going to 10.7.5 seems to have made things better. We still get ocassional error messages during export and the only way to proceed is to do a full restart of the machine.

    Re: Mountain Lion Stability

There are upadated DNX codecs that work with 12-core machines that will address the crashes.  You want to download this.

Must think of something clever to go here...

    Thanks for the info hbrock.

Your link doesn't go anywhere but I found the codecs on the main site.

    A few questions for you:

Wouldn't the latest codecs be installed with the software and patches?

Also there seems to be an even more recent release, should I donwload that?

    thanks for help

    Re: Mountain Lion Stability

I recently upgraded 8 systems to Lion and stayed on MC 5.5.3.  Everything was very stable. We upgraded everyone to MC 6.0.3.2 and am kind of sorry I did.  Lot's of issues.  We upgraded because we thought it might handle larger sequences better (faster waveform refreshing, faster bin saving and opening, etc).

-mouse vanishes over the source/record buttons on some systems

-less stable playback  (on Nitris DX systems)

-a fair amount of bin issues

I do believe we'll work through the problems but not sure it really was worth it. Won't go to 6.5.x because of the upgrade charge for the half of our systems we don't pay support on and out 6.5.x test system is very buggy.
