    Avid Screening with Fatal I/O Error

    Today I screened from Avid and it was the second time I have received the same error at different points in my timeline.

    I screened from an Avid video and auio mixdown (video at DNxHD 36) with media on local drives; Avid version 6.0.3 on a Mac Pro with OS 10.7.2. The mixdowns were done on a different machine (Avid vrs 5.5.3 Adrenaline; OS 10.6.8) with the media copied onto drives and transfered to the screening room Mac Pro. On playback on both Mac's, I didn't receive any error's after playing the media for about 15 mins.

    On both screening's, the error happened at different points; one 7 mins in, today's one 100 or so mins in. I wasn't able to save the error log the first time it happened, but see below for the error log from today:

    Exception caught in APlayer::Play - Exception: Fatal Open I/O Error.

    Exception:

    @ Wed Oct 31 10:54:52 2012

     Exception: Fatal Open I/O Error.

    VDMerr [8a030035] @ /Snapshots/relengsnow6_1343949798/HWsupport/HWSDK/proj/mac/HWSDK/../../../../Legend/Common/src/user/VDM3/VDM_Interface_Prvt.cpp | Line# 156 :: Error Code: HWcommon::kHWCerr_InvalidUsageError

    Exception caught in APlayer::Play - Exception: VDM3BobVideoOut::Setup: Unexpected state.

    PlayerHostThread::CheckForExceptions: Exception: VDM3BobVideoOut::Setup: Unexpected state.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    They output video and audio via an AJA 3G card.

    I assume the Open I/O plugins for AJA are at the correct level for that version of the OS and MC?

    Yes, I spoke to the engineer who installed the card, and he updated the driver and plugins about a month or so ago.

    I too have the exact same problem on two different machines.

    HP XW8400, Nvidia 3500 Graphics Card, both on Symphony 6.0.1.1 with AJA 10.1 Drivers and Open IO, and also on Symphony 6.0.3 with AJA 10.3 Drivers and Open IO. will play fine for a while on local storage DV25 media then exception fatal Open IO error.

    aslprost: is this issue occcuring when you are working with a video and audio mixdown on your timeline or have you been consolidating the media and moving that across to the other machine?

    An update on this issue:

    Exported a Same as Source Quicktime from my Avid; Avid vrs 5.5.3.

    AMA Linked and Transcoded to DNxHD36 on the 6.0.3 machine, in a project that was also created on the 6.0.3 machine.

    Played the clip and the same error came up, this time at a different point to the last two.
